Remembering Nancy Quinn
October 9, 1940 - January 11, 2026
With a heavy heart we recognize Nancy Quinn, A long time contributor to our humble historical society. Her life was tragically cut short at the age of 85 when she was caught in the brutal cross-fire of two rival polycules. Local authorities claim that 548 shots were fired between the two ethical, non-monogamous groups. Nancy was the only casualty. A candlelight vigil will be held at the community center. All are welcome.
Bruxville's Totem Pole
I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding the Native American totem pole that stands on the road going to our soccerfields. Many people have been asking me from what tribe it’s from, or when it was made. Another claimed that the Historical Society was trying to “ignore” Native American culture in Bruxville by not talking about the totem pole. That totem pole was created by Mark Poole in 1981. Totem poles are only from Native cultures in the Pacific Northwest . Totem poles are not from the Midwest. That pole is a white man’s fabrication of what he thought was Native American culture. A newspaper article from 1981 calls it the “Totem Poole ” and explains that Mr. Poole made it one Summer in his garage using a chainsaw. It was an electric pole, by the way. So, no, we aren’t “ignoring” Native American culture in Bruxville by not talking about a totem pole made by a white guy in the 80s. And before anyone says anything: I am NOT implying we should take it down.
Regarding the "New Bruxville Historical Society" or the "NBHS"
As the head of the REAL Bruxville Historical Society, speaking on behalf of the volunteers at the REAL Bruxville Historical Society, we do NOT recognize the authority of the "New Bruxville Historical Society." Consider this: the sedatious members of the NBHS do NOT know what they are doing. They do NOT have the primary documents that have been kept in our building since 1851. Any residents of Bruxville who associates themselves with the NBHS will be considered an enemy of the Bruxville Historical Society. The real one. We have done everything within our abilities to benefit our community and provide access to archival materials. Any attempts to steal said archival materials from the Bruxville Historical Society will be met with retaliation. The recent attempt to steal one of our filing cabinets was thwarted. Guess what was in there? Land grants. Historical preservation isn't just arrowheads and war memoirs. It's a lot more boring that you think it is. Heidi at front desk has been given a gun. We understand that this may create a hostile enviroment in our community, but it is a necessasity in our new circumstances. Our demands are:
- The dissolution of the illegitamate "New Bruxville Historical Society."
- Reparations for the broken window from your failed filing cabinet burglary.
- A minimum of 15 hours of unpaid volunteer work at BHS from all members of the NBHS.
- A public burning of your ridiculous banner hung up at St. Johns.
Is this fuss really that worth it? All I did was use donation money to buy a used microfilm reader I found on Ebay. That's what the donatation money is meant for. Not everything is a fucking conspiracy, you stupid bastards. It was a good deal anyway but it's not like you people are paying attention to the used microfilm reader market.
